Nov. 14th was World Diabetes Day...
We arranged a park day with other type 1 families. We had six families attend. Tyler and Cody were excited to toss a football and create a football game with a few other boys they met. When one felt low, they'd all run in to make sure the other was fine and their blood glucose normal. Well, several times they did pop glucose, hard playing can lower your b/g like insulin. It was nice to talk with other parents, listen and ask questions. When we left the park, Tyler had a big smile on his face.
After park day, we picked up Brian and headed to Sacramento, the Capitol, to celebrate World Diabetes Day. There were vendors who had really cool stuff for the kids. We spoke with a handful of people who have type 1. Tyler's edno's were there and took the time to chat with us for a while. You know there are always blood glucose questions to ask. The Capitol was lit blue and we were given blue glow sticks to wave. It was a very nice evening, a good turn out for the first year, but best of all, Tyler left with a smile on his face.
YAY!!!! You have a blog!
ReplyDeleteSO COOL you were able to make it to the capitol building. Was Arnold there? And I'm jealous about the vendors. Maybe next year San Francisco's will be bigger and better.
I'm adding you to my blog roll, if that's ok with you?
I'm glad Tyler's been smiling a lot lately. That is what is really important for him now. :)
Thanks Meri....
ReplyDeleteNo Arnold was not there.
Today he is not smiling as much, there is always tomorrow :)
